Program Overview

Following the spirit and the tradition of previous events in this series of workshops, the 14th Austrian Numerical Analysis Day will be held at the Department of Mathematics of the Alpen-Adria-Universitaet Klagenfurt. The aim of this annual workshop is to inform about activities in the fields of numerical analysis and applied mathematics. Scientists from Austrian universities and other research institutions in particular are invited to present their research, exchange ideas, and start  new collaborations.

There are no registration fees, but participants are expected to cover their expenses themselves. In case you plan to attend,

Registration deadline for talks is April 1, 2018.

For the registration we ask you for the following information:
  • your expected arrival and departure dates, name, affiliation 
  • whether you plan to give a talk (if so, you find further information about the procedure)
  • whether you participate in the workshop dinner (the workshop dinner is free of charge. Indicating special requirements as applicable)
  • whether you attend to the guided tour of the Karl Popper collection

Venue

The workshop takes place in room K.0.0.1 at the Alpen-Adria-Universitaet Klagenfurt, Austria, which is located at the beautiful lake Woerthersee. A map of the University area can be found here map .

For accomodation In walking distance to the University we recommend Pension WachauYouth HostelSeepark Hotel, Hotel Plattenwirt, Hotel Roesch and Hotel Weidenhof (map). Further possibilities can be found through Klagenfurt Tourismus.

Even through the university campus is not in the city center, there are reasonable bus connections (day / night) from the city center, see  online bus schedule. An alternative is to go by bike, for bike rentals check here for the price and here for the places or nextbike to rent a bike, also, some of the hotels offer bikes to rent.


Travelling to Klagenfurt

Klagenfurt airport has direct flights from/to Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin (germanwings, not daily!) and Vienna (Austrian Airlines).

You may also consider arriving at one of the neighboring airports, preferable Ljubljana or Graz but also Triest, Venice Marco Polo, Treviso.

From Klagenfurt Airport to the University/Seepark Hotel/Pension Wachau:

Klagenfurt airport is not very well connected by public transport. There is only one bus (number 42) leaving once an hour (always at xx:56, starting from 5:56 a.m. until 6:56 p.m.). Get off at Heiligengeistplatz and change to bus number 81 (direction University/Krottendorf), then you get off at Ginzkeygasse (for Pension Wachau) or at Universitaetsstrasse (for the University or the Seepark Hotel). The bus ticket costs 2,20 Euros and can be bought on the bus.
A taxi from the airport costs around 20 Euros.

Arriving at Ljubljana airport you take the Alpe-Adria-Line (a one-way ticket is 17 EUR).
